Give In a Little (But Gain a Lot)
Perhaps there are some aspects of your obsession that would not be so bad, if it were quarantined into a little box. After all, if you’re scheduling something in, it is no longer an addiction. It is merely a past-time.
Maybe you can give your obsession half an hour over coffee in the morning. Or an hour before going to bed. Or only at weekends. Be clear about when you are allowed to do your activity, by scheduling it into your diary or calendar
Sure, you’ll step over the mark now and again. But you will have a schedule to fall back on, when previously you did not. And these things take practice to become new habits - failing and getting up again - about 3 weeks should just about do it.
